Rardahough, or Ra, was born to a family of six on a farm just west of Grunwald. They were never very good at buisiness dealings or growing things, the mother was the best, and everyone said she had a ‘black thumb'. So were almost always in poverty. They were malnourished, and they had nowhere else to go for money or food. His father knew they wouldn't last long, so they spent the last of their money to get each child to a different institute in different places around the continent. Malan, the eldest daughter at ten, was sent to the south to Port Hampshire, to become a sailor or a barmaid. Donesque, the eldest son at 11, was sent to the southeast to Fort Velensk to train for the army. Chalna, a girl of 8, was sent to Leilon, to entertain sailors as a minstral. Divano, a boy of 7, was sent to Echo to be a miner. And finally, Ra at 5 was sent Hlint. They could not guarantee what he would be, for then they were out of money. He wandered the streets for days, and was ignored by the adventurers and people who were busy with their own problems. After three days though, someone did notice. A cleric of Lucinda.
