Halfling: Racial Traits

Halflings normally have brown, red, or reddish-brown hair. A blond halfling is extremely rare. Eye color also varies but tends toward darker colors, though particular tribes are known for the prevalence of blue eyes amongst their members, especially those that live near mountainous regions.
Regardless of clan, their skin tends to be tanned, as most halflings are exposed to the rays of the sun for long periods of time. However, exceptions exist at both the light and dark end of the spectrum.

The halfling life expectancy in the current time and age has settled at somewhere around a century and a half. Some stories among halflings refer to figures from the past who had many more years under the sun, as much as double what is common today. Most storytellers, if questioned, would cite the hardships of several thousands of years of travel as a potential answer for what could have so drastically altered the race's lifespan and culture. It is believed that some rare halflings may still live through their gray years and into a third century, but most now live out a shorter span of days.
