Halfling: Common Attire

Halfling: Common Attire

A halfling's wardrobe can almost be divided in two: the clothes he wears when traveling and the robes he wears in clan homes. Traveling clothes are worn so constantly when a halfling is out and about that they become akin to a permanent fixture on a halfling's body. The light leathers that the halflings favor are always comfortable in any type of situation. These leathers are often blessed with an abundance of slots, pockets and other hidey places, while always remaining airy enough to allow great freedom of movement. On the subject of pockets, it is true that halflings do tend to engage in a kind of unspoken worship of storage spaces. Whether it is a pouch, bag, box, or coffer, wherever a halfling holds her trinkets is a treasure. As such, it is not uncommon to see heavily decorated containers, some of which may be given names or even personalities.

While not traveling, a halfling's clothes turn to practicality and comfort. The rules for choosing clothing are always the same, whether one is a farmer, dancer, or soldier: if it feels right and doesn't get in the way, it is halfling. So great is the halfling need for comfort that many of the other races joke that a halfling would wear two unmatched shoes, simply because they fit better. Of course, the halflings like to add that if the shoes in question had not been made by tall people, they would have been customized for each foot and fit perfectly to start with! Despite their attraction to comfort and practicality, though, it is generally accepted that the race has a unique sense of taste that can make beauty out of chaos. Their ability to defy standards has often left many human stylists speechless.
