Thark was just another ordinary boy growing up in Krondor, no more different than many of the other boys growing up there. Had fate not intervened, he would have been a happily married man, growing corn or some other grain to support his wife and children. This did not come to pass however. Thark met Elisa when he was but 18, and as sometimes happens, the two fell madly in love. Parents on both sides were content with the young ones romance, and soon they shared their own little cottage together, Thark working in the fields with his father, and Elisa ran errands for her mother, who owned a small Pawn shop of sorts. Many years past, and the two gave birth to a son, Daniel. He was much adorned by all, and had the looks of his father. Whilst traveling from Krandor to Hampshire, a griffon attacked the three on the, usually safe and guarded, road to Hampshire. It was a terrifying moment, and Thark is still haunted by the event. The Griffon came from nowhere. Before they realised what was happening, the rustle of loud wind and a haunting screech, and the Griffon had Daniel in his talons, pecking feriously at the young boy. Elisa screamed, a sound Thark had never heard before, and at the sight, threw himself bodily and weaponless against the Griffon, biting and hiting the huge beast. It flung Daniels bloody body aside, and attacked Thark, whilst Elisa ran to her sons limp body. Although the Griffon was obviously superior, a rage filled Thark, and he flailed and beat the Griffon. Stunned by this attack, the Griffons beak snapped painfully onto Tharks arm, and leapt into the air with him, carrying him off. Thark realised the danger instantly. He swung himself onto the beasts back, wrenching his arm painfully. With his free hand, in one motion, he took a small pocket knife from his boot and plunged it into the eye of the Griffon. The beast screeched and jerked, releasing Thark, who fell to the ground unconscious. When Thark awoke, in pain with many broken bones, he could see no Griffon, but saw the body of his son by the road...his son was crying. With every move a torment of pain, Thark clambered over to his son, who covered in blood, still lived. There was no sign of Elisa. The next hour was a blur for Thark. With broken ribs and a Broken arm, he carried his son to Krandor whilst shouting of Elisa in some distant hope she yet may live. Through the haze of pain and wearyness of his battle, Thark collapsed once he reached Krandor, in his unconciousness he had a vision, a vision of Elisa in some foreign land he did not recognise. Thark later woke in krandor at his parents house who explained they found Thark and his son 2 days past and that Daniel was on the mend, with a sigh of relief Thark's path became clear, the vision was a sign, a sign that Elisa still lived... Thark went to see his son who was asleep at the time, the sight of his still living son who may now never see his mothers sweet face again, filled him with a strength he felt the day the griffon's attacked. "I will Find her!!" he said. and without another thought kissed his family good bye, picked up his fathers warhammer and left Krandor to find his lost love. Thark returns often to Krandor to visit Daniel and his friends, although never stays long. And when he is away, he is rarely heard of, preffering to wander the wilds, still in belief that Elisa lives somewhere. Thark is a solitary figure, and not much for conversation, although a man can only remain in the dark for so long, and Thark is aware of this.
