Born to unknown peasant parents, and orphaned to sailors of the worlds' seas. Saolin is raised in a society whose primary motto is "what can't be bought can be taken". Through this basic and unforgiving motto Saolin sees a world entirely populated by pirates. Pirates who with one hand extended in friendship hide a dagger in the other. Only family and shipmates can be trusted. Life at sea is filled with adventure and not a little struggle. From this, Saolin learns to have confidence in himself during any challenge and to only give up when death claims his body. As a boy raised amongst men of the same virtues, Saolin is well weathered with a deep sun tanned complexion, diamond hard blue eyes buried deep below a strong brow, and high intelligent forehead. His hair is sun bleached brown and his hands bare the deep calluses of a line handler and oft times buccaneer. His skill at the sword arises from many bloody confrontations on the high seas. One such confrontation leads to the ultimate destruction of Saolins' ship and family, leaving him washed ashore in the bay of Port Hampshire. From here Saolin will begin his new life in the world of layonara.
