Rytac was the son of a artificer. Magic did not interest him much, but he loved to work with is hands and often created many cunning pieces for his father to imbue with magical properties. They became a father and son pair, the father showing his son what he needed and his son crafting the metal to his father's standards. Working with metal, blacksmithing, made Rytac much stronger than many of his kind, but stole from his looks. Because of his poor looks, Rytac never could find someone to share his life with, until he meet Katelyn. Katelyn was different from the others as well, she was blind. This was not her only quality though that made the others stay away, she also had visions. She could see things about others, their futures, their pasts, even their darkest thoughts. She feel in love with Rytac though, for his kind heart. Every so often, father and son left their homes to venture forth to different kingdoms and show their wares to those who might need them. On one of these trips, Katelyn was taken and Rytac could not find her. He vowed to find her and make those pay that took her. For this reason, Rytac turned to his father's spell books and began to study, teaching himself and learning from his father the path to power that a wizard can achieve. As he learned all he could from his father, he turned to others to learn how to seek information. It was here he found himself in the home of a deep gnome that practiced necromancy. From those dark arts they learned that a powerful noble had his wife kidnapped and uses her for her visions. Rytac new he would need to become powerful indeed to get her back. He has started down the path to power and finds himself in Layonara, drawing closer to Katelyn as he continues to learn, hoping he is strong enough when he finally reaches her. He has cast off his family name, so not to taint it, and is now known as just Rytac.
