Luc Nightwind

Background

Luciendendra "Luc" Nightwind Age: 127 (Born 1368) Race: Elf Class: Cleric/Wizard Alignment: Neutral Good Worships: Aerindin Physical Traits: Slim build. Long, dark brown hair. Blue eyes. 6' 2". No facial hair. Personality: Silent, watchful, non-social, emotionless. Remains closed to strangers, using his adept judge of character to decide whether or not the people around him are worth talking to. Will open up to close friends, once they are made. He feels compelled to help those in need, but will only harm another in defense, or out of necessity. His eyes portray his mood more effectively than any other part of his face. They will appear dull and bored when in a crowd, warm with understanding when in the company of a close friend, or cold and focused when in a battle. While he does have a dry, intelligent sense of humour, strangers rarely see this side of him. Background: Living a simple life on the western border of Kheldell in the High Forest, Luc enjoyed studying books on the divine arts. His Father, Lien, was a hunter and tanner who took disappointment and disgust in knowing that Luc could never follow in his fathers footsteps due to his inability to hunt. His mother, Lynia, raised Luc to worship and respect the god Aeridin and encouraged Luc to study the divine arts in order to use them to help others when he came of age and left home. Although she hated seeing Luc receive beatings from his father, Lynia was no match for Lien and he was the only means to keeping her son fed. When Luc was 118, his father returned home drunk after celebrating in Kheldell about a particularly large beast he slew. Upon his return, Lien greeted Luc with an especially hard beating. Lynia, no longer able to watch from the sidelines, jumped in the crossfire in an attempt to protect her son, but was knocked aside effortlessly by Lien, where her temple landed neatly into the corner of a nearby table, killing her instantly. Upon witnessing his mothers demise, Luc ran in an attempt to escape to Kheldell, but his father chased him through the forests. As Luc drew closer to the gates of Kheldell, an old elven wizard appeared at the gates, realised what was going on and drew a wooden staff from his back. Using arcane magic, he tossed Lien aside like a bowling pin, rendering him unconcious. Luc then explains to the man what happened. Upon hearing the full story, the man escorts Luc back to his home where they then give Lynia a proper burial under an oak tree of Lucs choosing as he used to read from under its shade. Realizing that Luc had nowhere to go, the wizard introduced himself as Elwyndal and told Luc to come stay with him. Elwyndal then took Luc under his wing in Kheldell. Luc takes advantage of his time here and uses it to sharpen his divine prowess. Also realising he would need a means to defend himself, Luc requested that he be taught by Elwyndal in the arcane arts that the man seemed so proficient in. With that, Elwyndal then offered to take Luc to Spellgard where Luc may craft his own staff and live amongst other Elves also striving to become able wizards. Upon hearing this, Luc returned to the oak tree of his mothers burial ground, broke off a branch, and returned with it to Elwyndal to which they then began the journey to Spellgard. At 127, Luc and Elwyndal travel to Blackford Castle. When Luc asks why they're going there, Elwyndal insists Luc will find out when they arrive. Although Luc is not too pleased with the response, he trusts his master. Upon their arrival, Elwyndal falls ill and becomes bedridden, requesting that Luc travel back to Spellgard to retrieve an antidote from a chest in Elwyndals house, insisting it was the only cure. Luc hitches a ride with a travelling merchant, but only makes it as far as to a town called Hlint. Realising he wouldn't be lucky enough to find another merchant for the trip back, as it was a small town, Luc realises it would likely be in his best interests to find an ally for the battles that will certainly entail this journey. Combat Style: Wields a staff named Lynia, carved himself by a branch of the oak tree his mother was buried under. Uses divine magic to heal the wounded, and arcane magic when self defense is required. Prayer: "Aeridin, guide me. Give me the strength to defend myself and those who can't. Heal the wounded and help the lost. I will strive to protect the Great Cycle and all that it stands for." "For the Lifegiver!" "May the Protector guide you."
