Glurin Dagnus

Background

Abandoned by his still unknown dwarven parents, he was found by the great Paladin Dagnar Dagnus and his sweet cleric wife Zia at the base of the Grey Peak Mountains, near Fort Llast. Cold and hungry, Glurin tugged at the skirt of Zia. She felt such pity for the ugly little dwarven orphan that they took him into their household immediately. As the years went by and Dagnar and Zia found that no more children would come their way, they were overjoyed and proud to raise this rambunctious little dwarf as their own. Dagnar and Zia were strong and faithful followers of Toran. They served in many regions throughout the land, always returning each year to Fort Llast to show Glurin the place of his "birth," and telling him the story of how they had found him. Glurin saw young and often the virtues of his step-parent's upbringing. He strongly desired to be able to heal and cure as his step-mother did. He saw his step-father swing his mighty longsword many times in defending the realm and his own family at times. His step-mother spent many long hours teaching him the healing spells needed to be a trusted cleric. Glurin spent many long hours curled up with the good books in his parent's large study. These books spoke of magical healings, mythical adventures, and other wonderful and exciting topics. His step-father trained him from his early teenage years to use the weapons of war Dagnar had used throughout his long life. Glurin has a little bit of mistrust for his dwarven "kin", always wondering if one of the older dwarves he meets along the way could be his father from long ago. He rarely sees a dwarven female and can only wonder what ever became of his true mother and father. As he was raised by his human step-parents, he finds the dwarven way of speaking the Common tongue, well, strange. When Glurin reached 30 years of age, his step-father told him it was time for him to go out into the world and seek his own way. Glurin had already felt the wander-lust, and knew he could serve well. His step-father gave him one of this best and most treasured longswords, and help him ready for his future. With one last kiss goodbye, Zia gently reminded him of the clerical training she had taught him. His contribution to the war against Blood would be his best, at all times, and would bring great credit upon himself, and would uphold the highest tradition of the Toranite faith.
