Born from a long line of devout Dark Elven mages, Raine was destined to progress in the social ladder of his city. However, Raine was different from his peers; rather than spending his time hating other races, Raine was always expanding his knowledge of histories, the arcane and the sciences. In secret, the young wizard began to study the teachings of Aragen, the scholar. Eventually his actions were noticed; he was disowned by his family and banned from his city. A Dark Elf who would rather learn and study than destroy, an oddity that could not be tolerated. At the young age of sixty, Raine was alone in the world. The unusual Drow still kept his reclusive and untrusting nature, however, his capacity and want to learn superceded his uneasiness about others. Eventually Raine learned to cope with others and allowed their help in his pursuit of knowledge. He began to expand his gift of wizardry and began a short period of reclusion. Eventually the banished elf discovered a young, lone, dark elf wizard was no match for the upper world. Raine, like all dark elves had to learn the hard way; an encounter with a band of witch hunters discovered the small hovel where the dark elf had been residing, and ruffed the inexperienced spellcaster up enough for the drow to yearn for companions. After recovering from his beating, the elf set out to amplify he spell casting abilities and futher his knowledge of the world, but this time, he would attempt to learn to cope with what he thought to be "inferior" races of the world. Today, the Dark Elf still continues to read and observe his surroundings. He writes theories and scientific inquiries in his spare time, although these documents are kept to himself. His choices are based purely on acquiring new thoughts and ideas. He uses his gifted abilities of magic to assist in his conquest, and enlist the help of others although mostly for self-advancement in intellect. An elitest, Raine usually corrects statements or assumptions that are inccorect; he enjoys dicussion, although he normally will argue his ideals to the death believing that the research he has done gives him the upper-hand in most conversations. Although many can get annoyed with the dark elf, his comments can be considered humourous mainly because the scholar lacks a good amount of common sense toward jokes. Raine is infuriated by puzzles he cannot solve. He will research for hours upon discovering a difficult riddle. Raine makes decisions not based on law, or justice, but rather on his scholarly research; calculating risks and situations and applying algarythems and research, Raine acts in accordance to his findings.
