Miranda Culwethyr

Background

For many years, Miranda Culwethyr has been a young woman dependent on everyone but herself. Struggling to survive after a bizarre turn of events devasted the family's crops on their communal farm and subsequently nearly everyone starved to death, Miranda was fortunate to have been several counties over, where the Gods look more favorably upon the townsfolk, studying as an apprentice to a carpenter. The carpenter, Delyous, had as much of a passion for ranged weapons as he did half round curio armoires. Each day conprised of sanding and planing dowels as well as setting up targets and widdling arrow shafts. To Delyous it became increasingly apparant that Miranda was a better marksman then he and that as a good teacher he ought to send her away to study with the very man who taught him all about bows and arrows, Tacitus. Miranda was quite despondant to be sent away especially since she feared that there would be no food or shelter for her and because she grew quite beholden to Delyous. He had become her surrogate family and she had yet to mourn the loss of her real family. Desperate to survive and being quite foolish to boot, Miranda stole a few gold pieces from Delyous's purse and struck out on her own the balmy summer evening before Tacitus would come for her. Initially she started towards her hometown in hopes that someone may have survived only remembering a third of the way there that she was sent word that only her cousin, Neechus, remained. Neechus made her skin crawl and that was enough reason for her to change course promptly. Whilst she began to travel towards the next largest city Miranda began to wonder to herself why Neechus survived when he was the skinniest, weakest and laziest of her entire family. "Could there be a bigger reason why everyone else perished but that slimy toad?" She thought. As Miranda meandered along the well trodden path her thoughts distracted her so throughly that she failed to hear the crunching of leaves just behind her. She continued walking until a slender young man leapt in front of her and immediatly began speaking in gibberish. At least Miranda thought it was gibberish, until a white light turned the dark night into early morning light for a brief moment, then she realized that the young man had cast a spell. Miranda ducked and cowered in fear that the man would be using that "devils magic" on her. Although her family were devout followers of Katia, they were adverse to magical powers because their sect believed that the only true magic came from nature and anything other was evil. They also believed that they were created from tadpoles but thats another peculiar notion of her families religious sect. Back to the story, The young man quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled her along with him as he began to run. Miranda screamed out and the young man said "Shush, unless you want that bugbear to find us even faster!" The young man, Malandaar was his name, had cast a daze spell and rescued Miranda from being a beasty's midnight snack. In gratitude and wonder, Miranda promised herself to never leave this brave's rescuers side. From that day forward, she would find her path in life along side Malandaar and perhaps the truth behind her family's deaths. Miranda is an ordinary beauty. She is the embodiment of the girl next door with her long honey blonde hair pulled into a neat ponytail, her rosy cheeks, and rose petal lips. She stood at an average height and was slender but fit in build. Her heart is good natured but her age and immaturity make her more than a little chaotic; teenage dramatics, being a bit addled in the brain and lack of personal discipline make her a character naturally to be avoided but her kindness, care and compassion outweigh her negatives. Miranda always wants to fight for what is fair and good and loving but doesn't always think everything out thoroughly. Take for example that she has run away from a very good life with Tacitus's tutelage to a life of adventure which may or may not be as comfortable for her in the long run.
