?Joyful Pandemonium? that is what her parents called her when she was young because that is what she brought to their tribe as an inquisitive, adventurous and mischievous elfling. She was born to the members of a tribe of around forty nomadic wild elves who roamed the plains and forests of Mistone hunting, foraging and living off the land making the clothes, weapons and other things that their simple lifestyle required. In common with others of their race her parents are proud and distrustful of the outside world, but with their own people they are caring, generous of spirit at one with nature and content with their lives and lifestyle but would help others that they found lost or in distress. Joyful's child hood was mostly untroubled and carefree living in the extended family of the tribe and learning their ways and beliefs as well as the necessary skills to look after herself and to ensure the continued well being of the tribe. The primary entertainment of the tribe is music and Joyful's beautiful singing voice was frequently requested. Joyful realised that this was not just due to her natural abilities as a singer, but also because she had an uncanny ability to enthrall or inspire those who heard her voice. As a youngster her inquisitive nature led her to the first of two significant events that would shape her future. She was following a badger cub in the forest when she became separated from the tribe and lost. Alone and afraid in the forest at night she wished for light and it happened bringing the tribe to her rescue. Over the years with some experimentation and limited guidance from the tribal elders she learned she had other abilities. The second significant event happened some years later when travelling the lands around Lake Troust when her tribe was attacked by orc bandits and four members of the tribe were killed including her closest friend. Joyful vowed at her friends graveside that if she ever encountered such creatures again she would do her utmost to bring them to a swift end and she gleaned every bit of information she could from the tribe and the few outsiders they had contact with to learn the ways and weaknesses of the orcs. As she came of age her enquiring nature led her to question the parochial and apparently xenophobic views of her parents and her tribe making her wonder what the outside world was like. Were other races so different from themselves? What was a city really like? She decided to go and find out for herself and the morning after a farewell meal in her honour and bearing a parting gift of a long bow from her parents she set forth to find out.
