Hijade Aerns

Background

Hijade was born in the village of Adara soon after it had been attacked by a barbarian tribe from the desert. His mother, Dyanna Tyln, was raped by one of the barbarians during the raid. Fortunately a group of Paladins that was passing through at the time defended the village against the barbarian tribe. One of the Paladins, Travis Aerns, offered to stay in the village, along with other Paladins, to help rebuild (and of course defend) the small village. Travis met the pregnant Dyanna and her 4 year old daughter, Korshaa, during the rebuilding. Once the village was rebuilt, Dyanna was already 5 months pregnant. Travis and Dyanna fell in love and 3 months later got married. Soon Dyanna gave birth to a male that she quickly named Hijade, after her previous husband who had been killed in the barbarian raid. Hijade grew up with strong morales taught to him by his father. He looked up to his sister, Korshaa (who did not change her name from Tyln to Aerns), who had strong magical capabilities from birth. She was an adventurer at heart and often went exploring in the desert and on the beach. Hijade followed her often on her adventures and would take a stick or something to be used as a "sword". When Hijade became a teenager, Travis taught Hjade how to wield a sword, and even gave him a longsword of his own. At this point Korshaa had turned 18. She wanted to explore the world and thought that a good place to go would be Pranzis. Travis offered to escort her in order to protect her. She accepted his offer, but Hijade wanted to go too. He admired Travis and wanted to watch him as he fought evil on the road to Pranzis. Travis said that he could go, but he must stay close to him and Korshaa. They traveled to Forewarn Fort where they caught a boat to Seacove. They traveled south from Seacove and came to a bridge just north of Pranzis. They were ambushed by thieves and Travis was stabbed in the back. He killed a majority of the thieves before he collapsed to the ground dead. Hijade had managed to kill a thief as well, but not before recieving a slash from a dagger across his chest. Korshaa managed to kill a few with some of the spells she had been practicing. Hijade kneeled over the corpse of Travis. He took the pendant of Toran from around his neck and put it on his own. Hijade and Korshaa reached Pranzis that night. They found the nearest inn and spent the night there. In the morning Hijade went in search of the Church of Toran. He told Korshaa to meet him back at the inn that night. He found the Church and told one of the Paladins the story of how his father was killed. He told him that he wanted to become a Paladin just like his father. He wanted to fight the evil in the world and uphold justice. This decision was more because he felt like it was his responsibility to take his father's place after his death. Hijade went back to the inn that night and found out that Korshaa had found someone who could hone her magical abilities. Korshaa was going on a quest with this person first thing in the morning. She said nothing of who the person was, or where she was going. Hijade told her that if she stopped by Adara anytime soon, to tell Mother that he planned to stay in Pranzis to become a Fighter Against Evil. She told him that she would tell her when she had the chance. In the morning, she left. Hijade went back to the Church and began his training to become a Paladin. Shortly into his training his Mentors found that he was very ambitious, and very arrogant. Hijade always wanted to rush through his training so that he could show his Mentors that he wasnt an ordinary student. He always thought of himself as the best student in his class. He never showed it though. He was very modest. One thing that made him stand out was that he always helped people on their sword techniques and defense. He was always scowled at by the teachers because of this, they thought that it was their job to improve the students, not his. After his training he was given a longsword, a shield, and a suit of plate mail for completing the training. He then traveled back to Adara to see his mother. His mother wasnt there. He asked what had happened to her, but the response wasnt one he was prepared for. They said that she went to Pranzis to look for her husband and kids. She hitched a ride on a caravan going through Adara. Apparently the caravan was destroyed by hungry orcs looking for food. He figured that now his only life was now back in Pranzis. He returned there and became a guard for the church of Toran. Hijade is a tall man with bright, sapphire like eyes, and dark brown, almost black hair. He refuses to drink any sort of alcoholic drink, thinking that it will make him unpure. But one thing that stands out in his personality is that he is very strong in his beliefs. He tolerates people with beliefs different than his own, but when confronted by someone saying that his beliefs are wrong, he doesnt hesitate to stand up for himself, but sometmes he gets too offended and makes an enemy with that person. He holds very long grudges and doesnt forgive very easily. Unless you have made friends with him. In this case he can usually see past your mistake and forgive you. 1. I have read and understood the Dogma of Toran and I will try my best to RP a Paladin of Toran. 2. Hijade believes that the rigid structure is in some ways unneccesary. He thinks that the Code is a great thing, and that it should be obeyed, but not in such a rigid way. He is sure that evil doesnt follow such strict guidelines, and that they will most surely find a weakness in the Paladin following the Code. He believes that your emotions can help you in the fight against evil if you learn how to channel them. Though he knows that the Code keeps the internal chaos of the average person in check, so he chooses to obey the Code. 3. Hijade uses the standard Plate Mail and longsword as is stated by Toran. He always wears the holy symbol of Toran around his neck.
