Talen's parents, a Druid and a Ranger from Sielwood were both killed while campaining to liberate Hlint from the Dark Elves during the end of the occupation of Hlint. Although he was 3 years old at the time, Talen has no memory of his parents. He was raised by an Elven Ranger/Cleric of Aeridin named Delaralith Le'les. Talen learned at an early age how to hunt and track through Sielwood. Since the age of 14 he has been following Dela on her personal quest to purge Sielwood and it's environs of undead so that they can rejoin the Great Cycle. Through-out most of his life Talen was a devout believer in Aeridin, but that changed during his nineteenth year. On an excursion to investigate rumors of undead in the Lost Ruins Delaralith was killed and raised as a zombie. Talen managed to destroy her, but turned away from Aeridin, not willing to trust in a god that allow her loyal follower to be ripped from the Great Cycle. Talen immediately left Sielwood for Port Hampshire and one there learned that there was little in the way of honest work for a Ranger in the city. Talen turned to larceny. He quickly learned that his ability to stalk game in the forest made him equally able able to stalk people in the dark shadows of the city. He fell in with a loose gang of thugs and thieves quickly rising to the top of their ranks. Soon after he became leader he got into a fight with the leader of a rival gang an killed him. This was the first time Talen had done something in direct contradiction to the teaching of his adoptive mother Delaralith Le'les. Talen left Port Hampshire and drifted back north-east. In the town of Center came upon an elf who recognized him from his time in the Forest of Sielwood with Dela. Talen was unprepared to come into direct contact with his path and ran. He ran until he was exhausted and fell, drained on a path in the forest near Lake Derius. As he lay there he slept and dreamed. In his dream he was visited by Delaralith's spirit. She told him he did well to rescue her from undeath and that he was wrong to turn his back on Aeridin. He was needed. Talen had finally found peace. Peace with who he was and peace with who he had become. He returned to Sielwood and prayed, for the first time in 3 years, at Aeridin's grove in Ranger's Vale. Shortly after returning to the vale, Talen heard reports of undead in the catacombs under his forgotten hometown of Hlint. He once again left Sielwood, but this time he was not running. He was huntiing.
