Re: World Leader Interaction

Same here. I have never gotten any quest journal entries. I was only referring to WLDQ stories in general.

While I have read nothing official, I know he has hit the 45 day rule.

It would probably be better to not spread rumors.

While I cannot say when Rhizome might be seen again in-game, as that is up to his player, I will tell you that he is spending his free time working on a very important project that is critical to the future of Layonara. As such, Leanthar is not likely to remove his World Leader status because of something he asked Rhizome (the player) to do.

From an IC perspective, Rhizome takes care of the Great Oak. That is his primary responsibility, and one which likely keeps him in the vicinity of the Great Oak most of the time. That he would rarely be seen elsewhere in the lands should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Those quest, are from a long time ago. I picked them up back in 2004/2005. I cant remember where, but I know the one for Rhizome use to be given by the druid (not going to say where, incase they still do =P) and ranger NPC on west.

Many of these you will not hear, simply because the WLs may not want you to know them. There are many reasons for this of course. At least one WL didn't do anything very nice to become one. Remember that the point is that the character was to have some kind of impact...that impact doesn't have to be positive. ;)

Re: World Leader Interaction

I have two quests (Rhizome and Plen) in my list. I understand that these men are busy (as am I, writing for the team) but I am of the opinion that we should drop all the PC-based quests from game as it's clear it's not a consistently working system. It was a great idea but it hasn't worked very well for everyone, and like many, those uncleared quests drive me nuts :). I know as unpredictable as I am at logging in, when Honora finishes her WLDQ, she won't be having any quest with my name anywhere near it.

Re: World Leader Interaction

I got luck and heard from Plenn on one PC and Ozy with another two. I thought the Ozy one was finished..

Re: World Leader Interaction

Heh, I didn't even realize that the quest stories were the ones the poll was asking about... several of those don't even have anything to do with the "WL" status other than being one of many stories on their road to getting there. Athus' story was way before his epic, Triba's as well. If you notice that much you can probably see that they might have a bit more use if they were changed out every now and then. Who would go to talk to Athus about elves now? Or Triba about the Broken Forest? That's a sensitive subject now, after Blood's defeat I'm sure it's one of the last things she wants to talk about.

That is good to know. I tried to be clear by emphasizing "I have not read anything official." But now I have :)

When newly created characters ask mine about the druid hierarchy, as stated, I always explain the official story. Rhizome is the Hierophant. OOC, I explain that like many of the religious orders, we are sadly unorganized.

Re: World Leader Interaction

As self-appointed transcriber of lore, I was surprised how few I know of directly: Bumblebee has heard tales directly from Brisbane, Quantum, and Quillwem. He knows vaguely of Athus' and Rhizome's deeds.

For your reference: LORE: World Leaders Index

Re: World Leader Interaction

Kinai's met quite a few world leaders, yet she's only heard one story and that wasn't even from the person... No idea what to vote in here, really. I know the deeds or I know the people, but I don't know both for any.

Re: World Leader Interaction

Told Story Directly From: Rhizome, Brisbane, Ozy, Plen

Met And Sees on a Regular Basis: Ozy, Kobal, Varka, Quillwem, Quantum

Re: World Leader Interaction

While I've heard directly of a few of the less-notorious deeds of Ozymandias, not a single one of the WLs whose player-quests I have in my journal, have I gotten to complete that quest.

The issue has always been "there isn't time to tell that whole tale." And they run off without hitting me with the item and clearing the uncompleted quest.

And, of course, there are a few whose players aren't around any more. Athus and the Elves of Vanavar, Quintayne Rosewine and the Release of the Shadows... *Shrugs.*

Re: World Leader Interaction

I have heard quite a few and I know quite a few of them.

Re: World Leader Interaction

Well, I do get little groups together and tell my story. When I get a chance. If someone asks I am more then willing to tell the story. But it does sound like boasting if you go around telling your story to every person.

Re: World Leader Interaction

obtaining WL is a boastable accomplishment >>;Well mabye only if you're characters boastful

I'm trying to see how much direct interaction with the world leader there is, that is "Hear their tale from them and receive the quest reward".

So, none. Prehaps you might manage to get it done before this poll closes.

Cheers,

Re: World Leader Interaction

Not all the world leaders have a written quest like that either.

Re: World Leader Interaction

Most that do have a written quest like that don't play anymore.

The trouble with finding out the tale of most WL's is coming up with an RP approach to asking them. The deeds of some WL's will always remain secret, except only to the right character type. Others will freely tell their tale, but only when asked. Others may lie about their tale while on the other side, the character you play shouldn't have an interest in it really. But then, this is a game, so regardless of character type, if you're really curious, ask!

Some characters are more straightforward than others. It's easy for characters who have a reputation, while shady characters...yah, that can be tough to find out their tale. From a more sympathetic perspective regarding the curious player, I'm willing to bet most WL's have very limited time to actually play their character (either due to RL, DMing, or otherwise). So there's the time issue as well.

This is a good thread.

Re: World Leader Interaction

Most of those quests are not the "WL" quests, either, and in fact may have nothing to do with their epics. Just one of their many stories.

Re: World Leader Interaction

Um... Yes...

Pretty much what Acacea said.

Heard lots of stories from different WLs, but to be honest, I'm not sure (well... for some I'm sure, but for most I'm not) whether they were about the WL quests that they had been through or normal quests that they had been through or... just stories. :p

Re: World Leader Interaction

Not to get off topic, but I would have a seriously hard time playing a druid if heavy organization was required. ;)

Re: World Leader Interaction

Chanda has not "heard" the story from most of the World Leaders, rather she was part of most of their stories at one time or another. I put that I have heard/know of 5 -10.

Not sure everyone on this list is a WL, but they are significant contributors to the history of Layonara.

Rufus Coldfinger, Serenity, Plenarius, Brisbane, Ozy, (Can never remember her name - "Maggot" that always was Serenity's shadow ;) , Rhizome

Re: World Leader Interaction

Heard both Ozy's Bloodwar telling and Plen's tale of the rise and fall of Eon, though still have both quests in my journal as no wands were waved.

Re: World Leader Interaction

The only world leader quest I have in journal is Rhizome, and I have never seen him online, let alone met him to hear his story. There are a number of world leaders who I know, but none whose story I have heard and received xp for.

Re: World Leader Interaction

Ionnarin, I still have both quests myself to hear the tails of ozy and plen. I wonder if they are still completable . . .

I'm certain my character Dur'Thak has met a few world leaders, but I honestly don't know who they are and have not heard any tales that I recall. I'm as clueless as a prime in the Hive wards when it comes to WL :)

I am on the same page with you here. I have even asked some of the PCs who I have quests in my log (of course they were epics back then when I got the quests) ooc about getting with them to get those quests out of my logs, and I was told "it is unlikely my pc will tell yours about any of that". I then begged them to simply just remove it from my journal!
