Writer's Wednesday XXIX

Hello
Dev-Log Readers!

It did not
escape us that last week was missed and for that we apologize. To make up for
the omission (a result of unfortunately time RL!) we are giving a double dose
this week! Last week it was intended to show you some of the creatures that are
in the works, so instead of four we bring you eight!

Please
enjoy this glimpse into the hard work our volunteers are putting in for you!

Scarabaeus
- It looks like a Corathite experiment,
this creature that seems part beetle, part bird and vaguely humanoid. Its
origins are rumored to be that of a magical rite. It has a strong carapace and
lethal beak.

Black Hand
Scout - Leftover from Bloodstone’s jaunt,
these mercenary tagalongs to the army have settled on the islands. They are
leaner than most orcs, with dark skin that is more grey than green, and are
survivalists - they prefer stealth to frontal assaults. Banditry provides their
meat and milk but they will hire out as thugs and even scouts sometimes, if the
price is right. This orc appears to be a scout.

Mummy
Caller - A popular monastery devoted to
learning and spiritualism once preserved its members after death in a huge
mausoleum. That chamber was breached and the bodies resurrected as the private
army of a notorious darkweaver. This mage has long since passed the way of his
minions but the power he imbibed them with remains.

Raging
Desert Howler - The eerie cries of this
beast sends shivers of fear through the strongest willed. It is primarily a night
hunter and in tales it a creature of nightmares. A frenzied insanity seems to
have crept into its gaze, along perhaps with you.

Old Salt
Water Crocodile - Rare are the crocs that
live to become this big. They are referred to by local tribesmen as Salt Dragons
for their tenacity and terrifying appearance.

Plenty
Camel - A smaller cousin to the Sandbar
camel, the Plenty camel is a tireless beast of burden. The original camels were
a gift of the distant kingdom of Sedera to the islands after Bloodstone’s devastating
rampage.

Ancient
Boar - Dusky brown with a bristled hide,
the aggressively territorial boar uses its long tusks to discourage hunters and
other predators. Occasionally, a boar lives long enough to reach the
magnificent size and angry temperament of the animal you see here.

Enraged
Black Bear -This is a large black bear
that has clearly been wounded in past encounters and appears to be both enraged
and in pain.

See you
next week!
