Welcome to the New Site!

Hello everyone!

First, we want to say thank you to everyone for being so patient with our extended downtime with the forums. The migration was quite involved, and as these things go, caused a few issues that took a some serious effort to unravel and put right. All of that said, we are ready to bring the site up for your use.

There are a few things to know about this site and a request. We know there a few things missing from the site or not quite functioning as intended. These will be worked on in the coming days and weeks to eventually get the site itself up to a fully functioning state. The following are known issues that we intend to rectify:

- The server status page is missing. This will be up in the next few days we hope, working around other obligations such as work and family etc.

- On the home page, the drop down menu aren't working properly. This will be fixed at some point (hopefully soon).

- There was a mix up with the character pictures when the information was moved over. This issue will resolve on it's own over time, as the updates run and the characters are logged into game during those periods. This only involves characters played on or AFTER January 25th.

- The search database is being reindexed and will take a few days.

- Links from forum posts to gallery images or to other forum posts aren't functioning yet. Anything that points to the old forums will have to be redirected. This is another issue that will be fixed at some point, hopefully soon.

-Some missing or half updated content throughout the site. This will be worked on over the coming weeks to bring the information as up-to-date as we can.

- The site, though up and functioning may have brief down times or periods of running slow for a while as we perform fixes and updates. We know this may be frustrating but hope that you'll bare with us.

It goes without saying that if you find an issue, even if you aren't sure, please let us know. There is a menu item at the top marked 'team' and you will need to go there, and 'create a new issue' then fill out the necessary/required information. If this is a bit intimidating for now, you can still post the information on the forums under the forum bug section. It's entirely likely there'll be a slow response but wide assistance for finding issues would be beneficial all the same.

Now to elaborate on a few things. The new site eliminates the old LORE pages and pulls everything under your old log ins for the forums portion of the old site. Largely content should remain the same as we've worked hard to move over the posts, calendars, galleries and PMs. If you have difficulties logging in please let us know and we'll try to help you get that resolved, though we ask that you bear with us for response times.

There is a new profile set up for players. Once logged in you can go to your My Account up in the right hand side and make your desired adjustments. When you edit your profile you will find a number of tabs where you can enter the amount of information you desire, such as characters, public CD key, Bioware name and the like. This is significantly expanded over the last website and may take you some time if you choose to use all the options. Under your NWN profile tab there is a section for you to fill some thoughts, these could range from your personal history here at the server to your preferred style of RP, space to add something about your favorite characters or anything in between.

Like the previous forums, there's space for your contact information and another tab for other personal information. There is indeed a space for a personal biography for yourself on this tab. Others can come to your page and see much of this information, even subscribe to your posts directly from this page.

You may notice that you have some badges associated with your accounts now. These are things such a special forums that you have attached to your account or perhaps badges of responsibility such as WL or Writer team member. There may be more to come with this though we'll be concentrating on getting the site working as we'd like it to be and updating the content that still needs it.

So take a look around explore the new site and look around at what's been done so far. Please feel free to give us your feedback as well! There are many features of the new site not listed in this post, though you will find quick access to much of it at the drop down menus at the top (for the moment, remember not accessible from the home page).

We hope you enjoy the new functionality and extend us some patience as we take care of the tasks that are yet to be completed.

Enjoy!

The Layonara Team

Shinies...

This looks indeed very good. While I am missing certain functions from the old forums (currently, that would be "Mark posts as read") which might or might not be added later - once the issues are resolved, I am certain that this is a much better overall approach for forums and lore.

Take your time, it's really good work so far. So many new things to explore and use!

~Aphel,

heading off to find and test new shiny functions...

Mark as read

At the bottom of the forum list there's a drop-down that will let you do this.

checking in (on android)

Was checking out the new site this morning while waiting on one of girls at the dentists. Looked pretty good. Having an access denied message when trying to access the forums. The drop down for community doesn't always seem to work.

Looking around

...looks great, just a few questions - where is the PM window?  Can't find it.  Also, will we be able to thank posts on this platform?  Thanks!

PMs and Thanks

Access your PMs through the My Account link up at the top right.

There is a "Thank" button on posts.

Thanks, found it - will there

Thanks, found it - will there be perhaps in the future an alert when there are pms?  Will there be the capacity to sort them?  I had mine sorted by players and major quest events and now it's one giant inbox, unsorted.  What is the pm limit to the mailboxes?

I just added a module to help

I just added a module to help filter PMs for sorting and such, it requires me to rebuild the inbox so they're temporarily invisible.

There are no limits on PMs any longer.

Users can configure to have an email sent when they recieve a new PM in their user settings. Otherwise I'll look into adding some sort of on site notification .

Thanks!

Good to know!  I was conditioned to the little red numbers up in the corner, I think we all were (bet some of the gms and admins were verging on PTSD with them).  Some kind of alert would be nice.  I'm digging in to the system to find all the tweaks - is there a way to set the entire forum to show most recent posts in a thread first?  Could not find a setting in my accounts folder for that.

I've added a Block on the

I've added a Block on the right side that shows if you have new messages.

At the bottom of any thread you should see the option for sorting and how many posts to display per thread. That setting is for all threads. Please note that the original topic is always displayed first but then any replies are then sorted by newest first.

Thanks yet again

Perfect, will continue playing.  And thanks for the incredible work, I have a good idea how much is going into this.

Thank you o' Team members,

Thank you o' Team members, for all your work (especially of the extra push you give after you finish off with your day-job each day) :)
