Observations

There is much to learn here on the surface.  So much of the lives and routines of the people are tied to the heaven and the cycles of the  orbs of lights.   There is always light.   I can only find brief respites of darkness yet somehow I do not yearn for the endless night.   I do miss the ease of slaves but find it novel to discover where the luxuries they supply actually come from.   Surfacers make slaves of the animal life.  They cannot see how inferior they are and more deserving of servitude than the beasts they think nothing of exploiting. Its is not hard to coax them to provide substance, surfacers and beasts.  Stupidly simple .  

The green plant life seems to be dependant on light.  I have found a few that are efficient poisons, something I want to look further into.  I've been scouting out locations for a secret garden of my own design.  I have few plants set aside and have consecreted the ground with the blood of several kobold and goblinoid infants.  It makes for very nice mushrooms, and aggressive creeper vines.

Crustaceans are just as tasty on the surface as they are in the endless dark.   Many have fallen to me in the quest for the only currency that I can easily trade, thought the restless undead are also a decent source of currency.  They don't need it
